Payment Policy

The Ordinary uses USD as its checkout currency and accepts the major card networks listed below.

Pricing denomination

Product prices, shipping adjustments, taxes, and order totals are displayed and charged in USD. A bank or card issuer may apply its own exchange rate or cross-border fee when the funding account uses another currency. At The Ordinary, this point is applied consistently to eligible customer requests.

Networks accepted

Checkout supports Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, American Express, JCB, Diners Club, and Discover. A particular card’s availability and authentication requirements are shown at checkout. For The Ordinary orders, this forms part of the published payment standard.

Legal tax collection

Applicable taxes are collected as required by law and calculated through checkout based on the order and delivery information. We do not promise tax-free treatment in every jurisdiction. Review the complete total before placing the order. This requirement is built into the current service process used by The Ordinary.

Alternative payment methods

Only methods actually displayed at checkout are available. This policy does not promise instalments, cryptocurrency, bank transfer, or another method that the store has not enabled. Customers of The Ordinary can refer to this rule whenever the stated conditions are met.

Payment providers

Shopify and enabled payment providers process card data using their own security controls. The Ordinary does not make a guarantee of absolute security, and customers should protect devices, account credentials, and card information.

Fraud checks and confirmation

Submitting payment authorises the processor to request the displayed amount. An issuer may decline a transaction or require verification. We may review an order for fraud or inconsistencies and may cancel it when payment cannot be verified. The Ordinary applies this principle at the relevant stage of the online purchase journey.

Payment-method authority

Customers must provide current billing information and must be authorised to use the selected card. Incorrect details, insufficient funds, issuer restrictions, or security checks may prevent approval. Questions about this point can be directed to The Ordinary using the verified details below.

After refund approval

Approved refunds are sent to the original payment method after the return is received and inspected. Following issuance by The Ordinary, a bank or card provider typically needs 5–10 business days to post the credit.
